Dear Friends,
I will teach a free tin whistle workshop for absolute beginners on
Sunday, March 12th from 12:45 to 1:45 PM at The Irish Arts Center, 553 W.
51st Street between 10th and 11th Avenues in Manhattan.
No previous musical training is necessary. Bring your own tin whistle in
the key of D or purchase one for $10 at the workshop.
To reserve a spot, call me at 212–247–3231 or e-mail me at
bill@pennywhistle.com. And please tell your friends!
The workshop will take place in the context of The Irish Art Center’s
Annual Pre-St. Patrick’s Open House. There will be many other wonderful
activities at the IAC on that day — free performances, classes, and a
film screening.
Some of the schedule for the day is still being worked out. To get a copy
of the finalized schedule, e-mail sydney@irishartscenter.org.
The tin whistle workshop is set for 12:45. I hope to see you there.
Sincerely,
Bill Ochs

He currently is a member of the Grade 1 78th Highlanders (Halifax) Pipe Band, which he joined when he was living in Nova Scotia. The Jam Pack: World Music contains over 3,235 Apple Loops played by master musicians from nearly every corner of the globe and 42 software instruments.
If you have Apple’s (included in iLife ‘06) Garageband 3.0 and a Deger Bagpipe Chanter you are going to have lots of fun.
First off you will be able to reproduce your favorite bagpipe tunes into a digital format called midi. What makes this great is that you can lay down on track using the Deger chanter, copy the track and playback the piece using a different instrument voice. This allows you to create your multi instrument compositions quite easily. When your done with your work of art just save the selection as an mp3 and load it into your ipod.
If you were thinking about dropping $99 on this package, do yourself a favor a go out a buy it, you won’t regret it.

The Executive Committee of the EUSPBA has voted to reinstate the on field EUSPBA Championships. The championship will be held for grades 2 and 3 this year (2006) with the intention of adding to that in the future. Since the number of grade 2 bands is so small, they will all automatically qualify for the final. Grade 3 will have special branch championship contests to determine which band will qualify for the final.
