Costs for this school are: Daytime Tuition plus SHARED accommodation: $750 Daytime Tuition ONLY: $500 Daytime Piping Course PLUS the evening workshops: $550 You can have a single room at a $250 supplement. To attend only the evening workshops which cover areas such as Tuning, Musical Expression and Medley Construction these are only $20 each evening and if you can’t attend the school during the day evening lessons are available at a cost of $40 each. If you missed the start of the evening class term but still wanted to join now you can. You will be slotted into a class for your ability and can take a 10 week course. Please download the form below and post it, email it or bring it in to the National Piping Centre by Wednesday 10th October. The new course costs £80/£70 (U16). Please note the timetable of lessons on the form as this will indicate your lesson time. Tuition is given in small, ability and aged-grouped classes. You will learn under the instruction of one of our expert tutors, using The National Piping Centre’s instructional system. Certificates of achievement are awarded after each stage, and you will be able to take part in the activities of The National Piping Centre, such as the informal end of session competition - either as a contestant or, if you prefer, as an enthusiastic supporter! Scots will get a chance to assess the combination of droning pipes and Latin rhythms on Sunday when The Sunshine on Leith Pipes and Samba Band has its first public performance, The Scotsman reported. In another cultural mix, the band will be in a parade to mark the Hindu festival of Dussehra. World-class highland drummer Tom Foote has joined Mohawk Valley Frasers Bagpipe Band (NY) and will begin a bi-monthly class for beginners beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Church, Cypress Street. Foote will offer solo lessons to experienced drummers. The Mohawk Valley Frasers will offer classes for those wishing to learn to play the bagpipe. Highland Dancing will be taught by Elizabeth Clough with classes meeting Sundays at the Kirkland Art Center in Clinton. Clough is certified by the Scottish Dance Teachers’ Alliance. The Herald newspaper from Glasgow,Scotland,UK Article has written an article on Gordon Duncan, who died in December 2005 at the age of 41, was one of the most skilled and innovative bagpipers the piping art has ever known. This year’s Mad Plaid has been sanctioned by the Prairie Pipe Band Association of Manitoba. The Amateur Solo Events will be used towards the 2008 Champion Supreme Point Tabulations! The Winnipeg Celtic Pipe Band will be hosting the 9th Annual Mad Plaid. The event will take place on November 3rd at the Irish Club - 654 Erin Street

Solo Piping Competition Coming to Ross Bridge Resort November 3rdPosted by: Pipe Major in NewsAn EUSPBA sanctioned solo piping contest is coming to Birmingham on the first Saturday in November 2007. This will be an indoor event and will feature Amateur grade 5 through grade 1 and possibly even an open/professional player contest if entries warrant. The judge will be Jimmy Bell from Lyon College in Arkansas, a well-known EUSPBA judge. This event will be sponsored this first year by the Piping Society of the MidSouth and the Alabama Celtic Association in an effort to support solo piping in Alabama and to raise interest and awareness of piping locally.
