Scott MacAulay, Director of The College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts
of Canada based in Summerside, PEI, is pleased to announce the following
appointments.
Highland Snare Drummer Jeremy White - long serving member of the drum corps
of the St. Andrew’s Society of Fredericton Pipe Band has been appointed as
Drumming Instructor for all programs at both the Summerside and
Charlottetown campuses of The College of Piping. As well, Jeremy will take
over as Lead Drummer of The College of Piping Pipe Band. Jeremy recently
returned from the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, where
he acted as a guest player with the Manawatu Scottish Society Pipe Band from
New Zealand.
James Beaumont - who hails from Bo’ness, Scotland, is back for his second
year of study as an Artist In Residence at The College of Piping. James has
just returned from a successful trip to Scotland where he placed in the Silver
Medal at the Northern Meeting and was a member of the Grade One World
Champion House of Edgar-Shotts and Dykehead Pipe Band. James continues his
studies as a leading solist on the piping scene and takes over as Pipe Major
of The College of Piping Pipe Band.
4-Time World Highland Dancing Champion-Tony Cargill, from Forfar,Scotland, has
accepted the position the position of Highland Dancing Artist In Residence at The
College of Piping. Tony most recently captured the Adult World Championship in
2004 at the Cowal Highland Gathering in Dunoon, Scotland. Tony will be sharing
his expertise and passion for dance with students of The College of Piping as well
as off-Island students on a workshop and summer-school basis.
