A School pipe band has become the winner of all five major championship titles following recent competition success.The Juvenile Band and Drum Corps of the Capital’s George Watson’s College won the Scottish Championships – adding to their British, European, World and Cowal champions titles.
Principal Gareth Edwards said: “The pipe band’s success once again is tribute to the enthusiasm of all the elements that make up an effective school activity.”
George Watson’s College Pipes and Drums have three bands of varying ability under the leadership of Pipe Major Iain Simpson and Drum Major Michael O’Neill who are ably assisted by three part time teachers. There are currently over 170 children being taught either piping or drumming at Watson’s.
