Marion teen wins bagpiping awards – Marion, MA – Wicked Local Marion

 

Raquel Macfarlane has taken some top honors for her bagpipe playing, including a national ranking by the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association (EUSPBA).

 

Macfarlane, 18, ranked sixth overall in the EUSPBA and third in the Poibaireachd for grade three out of 295 pipers.

As a result, she ranked second overall and first in Poibaireachd for grade three, and has been promoted to the next level up (grade two) for the 2009competition.

 Macfarlane was also “Piper of the Day” at the Maine Highland Games last August. Macfarlane placed first in Color Guard Division from the Marion Fourth of July Parade.
