“The World Pipe Band Championships is under way in Glasgow, with more than 40,000 expected to attend.
The event, featuring 239 pipe bands, is taking place at Glasgow Green with a record number of musicians taking part.
A bumper number of tickets have been sold for the event with a 25% increase in capacity at this year’s event.
The bands, featuring more than 8,000 pipers and drummers, will perform infront of fans from across the globe.
The World Pipe Band Championships 2010 also plays host to the Drum Major competition, Highland Dancing, Glasgow World Highland Games.
Visitors will also see a world record attempt at The Heavy Lift and an expanded children’s zone featuring Hamleys Toy Store.
A traditional Scottish Food Market with displays from the Food Standards Agency is also being introduced this year.”
