
Following the death of Queen Anne, the Throne of Great Britain and Ireland passes to George I, marking the beginning of the Hanoverian dynasty in 1714.
As a result, the second Irish Parliament of Anne’s reign is automatically dissolved, in keeping with constitutional practice at the time. George I’s accession ushers in a new political era, with growing tensions between Protestant Ascendancy interests and the evolving role of the monarchy and Parliament in Irish governance.
