The New York City Fire Department Emerald Society Pipes and Drums, a nonprofit organization, is composed entirely of either retired, or active New York City Firefighters. Prior to 9/11/01, our main source of income was derived from performing at parades, special concerts, volunteer apparatus dedications, etc. However, since 9/11, because of our dedication in providing dignity to the member and their families at over 500 funerals and memorial dedications, the Band has grown increasingly popular among the Department, and with that popularity, it has almost doubled in size.

Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division One

The Pipes & Drums of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division One, has been in existence for over 20 years. It began in the Monroe, NY area by a handful of pipers. It has now grown to approximately 42 members, along with a number of students. The piping students are now being taught by the one and only Jim Kelly (our former Pipe Major); many of our current pipers were taught by the late Bill Spencer. The snare drummers are taught by John Mollahan, while the tenor drummers are taught by Kathryn Collins.
