The Registration Act comes into force requiring all Catholic priests in Ireland to register in court

The Registration Act comes into force, requiring all Catholic priests in Ireland to:

- Register their names in court,
- Provide two bonds of £50 each as assurance for good behavior,
- And remain within the county where they are registered.

This legislation is part of the broader Penal Laws, aimed at suppressing Catholic influence and enforcing Protestant ascendancy in Ireland.
