The Sound of 8 Bagpipes for Philip Glass

The music of minimalism pioneer Philip Glass is like a sonic meditation—built on the repetition of simple musical elements and their gradual transformation. This time, Glass’s compositions are reborn in an unexpected soundscape, performed by eight bagpipers from France, brought together by the exceptional performer and artistic director Erwan Keravec.

“8 Sonneurs pour Philip Glass” is a unique project where Glass’s minimalist classics blend with the rich and expressive tonal palette of traditional Breton bagpipes. The concert features four legendary works by Glass, all composed in 1969. In this reinterpretation by the bagpipe ensemble, these pieces take on an entirely new sonic identity—a meeting point between ancient tradition and the forward-looking ideas of contemporary music.
