Founded in 2000, the band is composed of 22 Pipers and drummers. Over the years, the Lia Fail Pipe and drum Corps has established itself as the premier bagpipe band in central New Jersey. Lia Fail has been honored to perform at many prestigious events, including the New Jersey Governor’s Annual Saint Patrick’s Day festivities at the governor’s residence in Princeton, Drumthwachet. The Band has also performed at a variety of functions at Princeton University, including the Annual Reunion of Princeton Alumni, the Saint Patrick’s Day celebration at the legendary Ivy Club and the famous Princeton Parade that precedes the Princeton University graduation.

Credit for supporting the idea of a club Pipe Band and the driving force behind establishing it was our club president, Jack Dunphy. The large financial burden of establishing the band, purchasing pipes, drums, and uniforms, and paying for piping and drumming instruction was borne by The Club. This initiative, taken concurrently with building our club house, demonstrated the fine quality of leadership that our club history depicts.

Today, the Band’s members include federal, state, county and local law enforcement as well as career firefighters and public service employees and active and former members of the United States Military. It is the desire of the Monmouth County Police & Fire Pipes & Drums to foster the spirit, pride and professionalism of public safety and public service to the whole community through our performances at various venues. The Monmouth County Police & Fire Pipes & Drums will be representative of all police officers and career firefighters in Monmouth County, and will carry its responsibility with honor and integrity, so it may be seen and heard.

Founded in 1993, while the band’s roots are Scottish it is distinctly American in its diversity. Members are men and women of all ages, representing a wealth of backgrounds brought together by a common desire to perpetuate the rich musical heritage of the Celtic people through piping and drumming.

The Shamrock and Thistle Pipe Band was founded in February 1974 under the direction and tutelage of Pipe Major Dennis Staer and Drum Sergeant, William King, Sr. The original idea for the band was that of James Curry, Esquire, a Toms River attorney whose love of bagpipe music, although not a player, promoted the initial gathering of prospective students. Through long and tedious lessons, and countless hours of practice, the band began to emerge. Over the first two years, the band raised on its own, over $1,200.00 to outfit itself in the full dress highland military uniforms, including the world famous black feathered bonnet.

The Ocean County Emerald Society Pipes & Drums is a NJ based-band that was founded in 1993 to help spread Irish tradition through bagpipe music. We have humbly performed at many parades, festivals and memorials throughout the past 19 years.

They had only been under the instruction of George Watts and Bob McCourt for a year when six fledgling pipers, clad in black slacks and white shirts, made their piping debut at a Jersey Shore Irish American Club Dance in May, 1985. The entertainment was a success and the performance became the cornerstone of the ambitious and ever-growing pipe band. Within a year the newly formed band numbered fifteen talented and eager-to-learn musicians.
